COMMUNITY GROUPS

For those interested in participating in a community group this Spring, see the sign up sheets as you come in church or contact Joey. The Study portion of our groups will address one of the greatest struggles we face... How to live in Community!

This is a place for you to build relationships, study Scripture and discuss implications of the gospel to life. We will discuss the need for gospel communication, the skill of listening and barriers to Christianity.

How to Live in Community Class: Current group meets Tuesday evening, 6:45-8:45pm at the Parsons'. If you are interested please talk with Joey, 970-744-1550.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!

Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be June 1st-4th, from 9 AM-11:30 AM, ages preschool-6th grade, at Conrad-Ball Middle school. Signups are happening now after church inthe fellowship hall. Volunteers are needed as well, both of time and resources, see the signup table for details!

UPCOMING STUDIES

All that we do is open to those who are skeptical about Christianity as well as to Christians.  We believe that the best way to process ideas and live life, is in the midst of community.  As a community founded upon the historic ‘gospel’, we believe the Bible to be ‘God’s Word’ to us and therefore speaks to the core issues of life.  For this reason, each of these studies will involve interaction with the Christian Scriptures.  But for those of you who do not hold to this belief in Jesus Christ or the Scriptures, you are fully welcome, and encouraged, to participate in these groups with complete openness about your concerns and disbelief.

Sunday Morning Discussion Group: Our current study is on the writings of theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Imprisoned and eventually executed by the Nazi regime for his Christian beliefs, Bonhoeffer wrote some of history's most insightful commentary on the application of Scripture to everyday life. Shortly before Bonhoeffer was executed by the SS he wrote in his journal, “What bothers me incessantly is the question… who Christ really is for us today?”  This question is the core of this study.  Please join us as we continue to explore the answers to that question. The class begins at 8:45am in the Fellowship Hall and runs weekly. Childcare is provided.

A ROUGH schedule:

Week 4 Obedience

Week 5-6 The Beatitudes (no, not the Fab-Four.  These are the qualities that characterize the followers of Christ)

Week 7 Cheap Grace

Week 8 Costly Grace

Week 9 Obedience

Weeks 10-12 Community (listening to others being as important as talking, intercessory prayer, individual sin and its effect on community, reconciliation)

Week 13 Living and dealing with those that oppose us (Bonhoeffer goes as far as to call them ‘enemies’  then again, he lived around a bunch of Nazis!)

“(God) must be recognized at the center of life, not when we are at the end of our resources; it is his will to be recognized in life, and not only when death comes; in health and vigor, and not only in suffering; in our activities, and not only in sin.”
--D. Bonhoeffer,
Letters from Prison
